Some terms belong to the rulebook. Some belong to the broadcast. Some started in locker rooms and became impossible to remove. This page records the difference where the difference still exists.
A sanctioned competitive matchup, heat or scored event within Battlegasm.
The official scheduled lineup of Battles for an event. Changes after weigh-in do not exist because there are no weight classes. Changes after medical review absolutely do.
Respectful competitor shorthand for a licensed professional or ranked Battlegasm athlete. Common in locker rooms and broadcasts; not a separate license class.
Legacy Battlegasm term for a licensed adult competitor. It remains recognized in historical branding and older federation language, although current editorial usage increasingly prefers competitor, athlete or Pro.
The sport: competitive climax organized through discipline-specific rules, telemetry, timing, judging and an administrative structure nobody expected to survive this long.
A qualifying scored climax within sanctioned competition. A Gasm is the performance; a Fin is the verified completion point. The distinction matters to statisticians and increasingly to everyone trapped near one.
Competitor slang for the verified finish of a qualifying response, now common in broadcast timing. “Finned” means the competitor has finished. It does not by itself tell you whether they won.
Official percentage of sanctioned starts ending in the competitor’s own legal Fin before timeout, withdrawal, disqualification or medical stoppage. Premature Victories count as wins but not as Fins.
A competitor holding current IBGF licensing, medical and witnessed-Fin credentials. It is a certification, not a universal nickname, despite merchandise attempting to make it one.
A 0.00–10.00 score for one performance, built from Intensity, Duration, Difficulty, Execution and Showmanship.
A separate 0–100 rolling competitive-strength rating used for world rankings across the trailing twelve months.
Season-specific points earned at the five Majors and used to determine the twenty-four World Finals berths. Fans call them Grin Points. Official documents usually do not.
The certified telemetry system used to visualize Build, Threshold, Climax, Peak G, Aftershock and Recovery. Current standard dates to 2024.
Highest instantaneous Gasmograph amplitude during a qualifying performance. A statistic, not a final score, regardless of what Power fans put on banners.
The sixth certified discipline. Elapsed time is measured from the legal start signal to a verified Fin, with starts and ties reviewed to hundredths of a second.
Broadcast and competitor slang for a short-form Speed heat. Widely understood. Not the title used in the technical manual.
A head-to-head Speed win awarded when the opponent records a disqualifying Pre-Start Fin before the legal signal. The winner’s clock never starts.
Locker-room insult derived from premature. Usually aimed at competitors with a reputation for false starts, poor control or ending before the situation legally requires it. Use at your own social risk.
Competitor slang with intentionally unstable meaning: fully focused, competitively overwhelmed, finished, or some combination. Context rarely improves certainty.
Broadcast and competitor shorthand for reaching measurable or practical maximum output. The telemetry definition is cleaner than the conversational one.
A converted historical value used when a 2019–2023 performance cannot be reconstructed perfectly under modern 2024+ scoring standards.
Battlegasm’s world championship trophy, first awarded in 2019 and carried into the IBGF record book without interruption.
Honorific reserved for multiple-time Golden Grin champions. Current membership remains extremely limited and extremely Finnish.
Control event in which audible output above a calibrated threshold causes deductions.
Control event scored partly on deviation from a certified neutral facial baseline.
Format rewarding multiple qualifying Gasms within a fixed competition window. Recovery becomes competitive strategy.
Endurance format emphasizing duration, pacing and sustained qualifying response.
Pairs format in which timing differential between qualifying Fins is measured in milliseconds.
Ten-stage championship Major. Full technical details are issued to licensed officials. Public summaries continue to stop at: ten stages, one body, no mercy.
A return to sanctioned competition after absence, suspension, injury or a retirement announcement the record book has not forgotten.
